Compatibility Guide for 2nd Gen GR86 K Swaps
Subaru and Toyota did a great job updating the very popular 86 platform in 2021. Since its release, we have steadily seen an increase in inquiries for K24-swapping this newer GR86 and matching BRZ chassis. It has been identified that the newer FA24 engines suffer from engine failure much like the FA20 found in the first generation 86 cars.
Thankfully, almost all of the work KPower Industries has engineered with our 86 Complete Swap Package will transfer over to the second generation GR86 cars! KPower Industries now has a collection for the GR86 cars. All product found in this collection have been confirmed to work in the second gen 2022+ GR86 and BRZ platform.

Assuming you are planning a JDM K24A RBB long block for your build, our 86 OEM Part Package is technically the only parts needed to properly prep the engine for install.
You can change out the JDM water pump housing for our USDM Water pump housing (don't forget a USDM alternator), and you can replace all the aged electronic sensors on the engine with our Sensor package.
Once your engine is prepped, our KPower 86 Race Package will have the core parts to bolt the engine into your GR86. In this package you have the option to add in our KPower 86 Header and midpipe. Our 86 Race Package is the stripped down option of our complete package that does not include the first generation electronics.
All of our products to swap the 86 can also be bought individually in our GR86 collection. Be sure to check out the oil pan option to choose a RBB balance shaft oil pump or our standard K20 PRB non balance shaft oil pump. We also offer the K20 Oil Pump Conversion kit as well.
The KPower cast intake manifold is staple of any RWD K swap project. The second gen GR86 throttle body has both a different size butterfly plate and bolt pattern compared to the first gen cars. Currently we offer the 74mm Bosch DBW throttle body and our vibration absorbing 74mm Bosch throttle body adapter.
The biggest difference between the 86 and GR86 cars is the electronics. Thankfully, KPower has recently released the answer: the Universal RWD K Swap Engine Harness for Haltech Elite 1500! This harness will pair with the Haltech Elite 1500 ECU, Haltech CAN WBO2, and the Bosch Oil Temp & Pressure Combo sensor.
Given that the GR86 CAN code has not yet been cracked, there is currently no plug-and-play option to retain all factory CAN functionality in this chassis. You will need to run a Haltech iC-7 or uC-10 Dash display. If you are getting deep into wiring, you can utilize the Haltech PD16 PDM system and Keypad options too! This route will get the engine running in a racecar build.
Factory CAN electronic functionality will need to be sorted by the car builder. However, we have heard if the factory engine harness is connected (including the ground cable), many of the OEM electronics will remain functional.

We do recommend swapping out those likely clogged, used K24 OEM Honda fuel injectors with some ID1050XDS or ID1300XDS fuel injectors. We can automatically change out your wiring harness free of charge to the correct injector connector when you buy these together.
