Why Our ND Miata K Swap Package Changes Everything
If you’re looking at K-swapping an ND, you already know where builds get sideways.
Bad fitment. Missing parts. A “kit” that still has you chasing brackets, lines, adapters, and cooling parts halfway through the job.
That’s what we wanted to fix with our KPower Race K Swap Package for the 2016-2025 Mazda Miata MX-5 ND.
This package was built to go together cleanly and fit the chassis correctly. No tubular subframe. Factory K-series steel oil pan. Factory Miata power plant frame retained. Factory suspension geometry retained. The result is a swap that keeps the ND’s balance intact while giving you the power, response, and durability people want from a K-series package.
A Complete Package
Our ND package includes the major parts that make the swap happen:
Adapter plate, lightweight flywheel, engine mount brackets, cast intake manifold, Bosch 74mm DBW throttle body, throttle body adapter, 4-2-1 stainless race header, fuel rail, E85-compatible fuel line kit, braided clutch line, flywheel dust shield, upper coolant neck, remote radiator cap assembly, heater port adapter, and oiling system options.
You’re not starting with a partial solution and building the rest yourself. The package was designed as a system.
Built Around the ND Chassis
The ND gives us more room to work with than earlier Miatas, and we used that to keep this swap clean.
You can use a factory K-series steel oil pan. You keep the Miata power plant frame. You keep the factory suspension geometry. You do not need a tubular subframe.
That keeps the car closer to what makes an ND good in the first place. Lightweight. Sharp. Predictable. The K swap adds the power and midrange the stock car is missing without turning the chassis into something hacked together.
Better Fitment, Better Build
Fitment is where a lot of swap kits fall apart.
Our ND package is set up for NC 5/6-speed and ND1/2/3 transmissions with the correct adapter and flywheel solutions for those combinations. For 2019+ transmissions, we also include the parts needed for the single-mass flywheel conversion when that option is selected.
That saves time during the build and cuts down on the usual trial-and-error that turns a swap into a drawn-out project.
What You Get Over a Stock ND Miata
A stock ND is a great chassis. It just does not have the power or torque a lot of track drivers want.
Most customers can expect around 220 wheel horsepower and 170 lb-ft at the wheels with this package.
In an ND, that changes the car everywhere. More midrange coming out of corners. More straightaway speed. Better response. A broader powerband. Honda K-series reliability and parts support. You end up with an ND that still feels light and sharp, but has the kind of power that matches the chassis.
Track-Tested at Autobahn
We’ve been developing and validating this setup with customer cars at Autobahn.
That track time gives us real feedback on heat, drivability, repeatability, and how the full package works under sustained load. We’re not guessing at how this setup behaves once the car starts doing laps.
FAQ
1. What is the KPower ND Miata K Swap Package?
It’s our race-focused K-swap package for the 2016-2025 Mazda Miata ND, built to install a Honda K-series with chassis-specific fitment and the major parts needed to complete the swap.
2. How much power does the ND K swap make?
Most customers can expect around 220 wheel horsepower and 170 lb-ft at the wheels.
3. Do I need a tubular subframe for this swap?
No. This package does not require a tubular subframe.
4. Does the swap keep the factory suspension geometry?
Yes. The factory suspension geometry is retained.
5. Does it keep the Miata power plant frame?
Yes. The factory Miata power plant frame is retained.
6. Can I use a factory K-series oil pan?
Yes. This package works with a factory K-series steel oil pan.
7. What comes in the package?
It includes the adapter plate, lightweight flywheel, engine mount brackets, cast intake manifold, Bosch 74mm DBW throttle body, throttle body adapter, 4-2-1 stainless race header, fuel rail, E85-compatible fuel line kit, braided clutch line, flywheel dust shield, upper coolant neck, remote radiator cap assembly, heater port adapter, and oiling system options.
8. What transmissions work with the package?
The package supports NC 5/6-speed and ND1/2/3 transmissions.
9. Is this package for a street car or a race car?
This is our race package and is best for track-focused builds that do not need OEM CANBUS integration.
10. Why does your Autobahn testing matter?
It shows how the full package performs under real track load, including heat, drivability, and repeatability. That is the kind of testing that helps shake out problems before they become your problems.
