The Easiest Miata K Swap Yet: ND Miata (2016–2025)

It is full steam ahead at KPower Industries as we have released our 2016–2025 Mazda Miata ND K Swap Race Package. With every passing generation of the beloved Miata, swapping in a K series engine has become easier! We are thrilled to combine the lightweight ND chassis with a reliable naturally aspirated K series engine swap offering!

The lightweight ND Miata provides the perfect foundation for our K swap package. Unlike the previous three generations of K-swapped Miatas, the ND requires no aftermarket tubular subframe. The factory suspension geometry remains intact, preserving Mazda’s finely tuned handling, while you gain a simpler, more reliable engine setup with a huge jump in power.

Just like our NC Miata K swap package, we have developed an engine mounting solution that allows you to retain the factory ND engine mount bushings. We are also able to retain the factory power plant frame (PPF). Doing this will keep NVH at an all-time low, giving you a smooth and refined driving experience while enjoying the massive performance jump that comes with Honda K power.

The factory subframe allows adequate room to retain a factory steel K24 oil pan, which means you have the freedom to run the balance shaft oil pump or the K20 PRB oil pump conversions. Pair either pump with the following oil pan options:

Seeing as how the exhaust system routing is the K series engine, our header from the NC K Swap package will work on this chassis as well.

You’ll have the option of running transmissions from both 5 and 6-speed NC Miatas, as well as ND1, ND2, and ND3 Miatas. For customers using ND2 or ND3 transmissions, we include the ND1 front clutch cover to complete the conversion to a single-mass flywheel setup when you purchase our swap package. All of this integrates seamlessly with the KPower transmission adapter plate and flywheel, allowing you to pair the correct clutch with your chosen transmission.

For ND Transmissions, we recommend the Exedy Stage 1 which we have been testing with great success, as well as the Walter Motorsports recommended Clutch Masters FX350 for those looking for more clutch clamping force. For NC Transmissions, we recommend the Exedy Stage 1.

Our recommended drivetrain combination is the ND 6 Speed, with a used LSD equipped differential from a Fiat 124, they come with a shorter 3.45 Final drive. If you want a NC transmission, use the 6 speed as long as it is paired with the a 3.45 final drive in the differential, but the gearing will be longer.

We are currently in development for a full CANBUS compliant Haltech S2 Electronics Package for the ND1 which we are aiming to release in 2027. For now, we are offering our Universal Electronics Package. More on this solution soon!
