2021 was a wild year to say the least! As you can imagine, the challenges of operating a small business in 2020 rolled right into 2021. Supply chain shortages and rising material costs took a big toll on us this year, but despite it all, we’re proud of the way we were still able experience huge growth and push the envelope in the K series community.
While fighting the struggles of 2021, our major project of the year was to bring our K24 FR-S/BRZ/86 swap package to market. Creating a single, perfectly functioning test vehicle was one thing, but putting a 100% complete swap package into production and onto our shelves during a pandemic proved to be the greater challenge.
The end result is unlike anything else on the market: a 100% plug and play, ready to install swap package, down to the wiring and A/C lines. We’re still pushing tirelessly to keep up with demand on this new product, and you can already expect to see numerous K swapped 86 race cars throughout the country and world in the 2022 season.
We began 2021 bursting at the seams in our 4900 square foot facility. Inventory, vehicles, CNC machines, and fabrication space were all packed into the shop like sardines. We desperately needed more space. Thankfully, one of our neighbors was moving out in August, so we were able to secure an additional 7400 square feet right next door to our current shop!
We added a couple of doorways to connect both units and reconfigured our layout to accommodate a much more efficient operation with room to grow in 2022 and beyond. The added square footage has been a complete game changer for us.
With the additional space added, we’ve been able to add more staff and bring even more manufacturing in house. We now have a dedicated wiring harness team, more CNC equipment and staff, and improved fabrication abilities.
We plan to continue this trend so we can have the most control over every aspect of the manufacturing and quality control process.
We have so much to be thankful for as we look back on the last year. Most importantly, we feel so thankful for YOU, our customer. Without your support and desire to spend your hard-earned dollars with us, KPower Industries wouldn’t exist. And we especially appreciate the extra level of understanding as we’ve fought constant backorders and supply chain shortages all year. If you had to wait for product longer than you hoped, just know that we sincerely appreciate your patience as we work tirelessly to catch up on all production.
It’s an interesting week to write this blog post too, as half our staff was hit with COVID-19 this past weekend. We’ve been doing everything possible to stay afloat while we give people time to heal and return to work, but the challenge is real! We’re excited to put this chapter behind us and turn the calendar to 2022 and have a fresh, healthy start to a new year.
Again, we can’t thank you enough for supporting us this past year, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together in 2022 and beyond!
Happy New Year From Your Friends at KPower:
David, Chris, Jamie, Sarah, Will, John, James, Chandler, Marlo, Julian, Anthony, Tim, and Charlie
